Breivika is the largest harbour area for industry in Tromsø. This area is under development and a new regulation plan is awaiting approval by the Municipality of Tromsø by the end of March 2007.

The plan includes the establishment of a new modern container terminal with a total area of 250 acres. In addition arrangements will be made to allocate areas for the establishment of different fishery- and service related businesses.

An important feature in the plan is a new main road through the port area to ease the traffic and to improve the infrastructure.

To complete the regulation plan for this area, it will be necessary to reclaim land from the sea to enlarge the harbour area. I addition new quays will be built, ensuring major improvements in facilities for maritime traffic and port related activities.
