As of today, Tromsø is the fastest growing City in Norway, and the most important centre for industry, trade & commerce, research and education in Northern Norway. This naturally results in that there is need for rapid development and a fast rate of investment at Tromsø Airport. The following projects have either already been initiated or are planned:

1. Extended taxiway
2. New de-icing platforms in north and south
3. Extended area for new aircraft stand places
4. Extension to parking house
5. Extended services in the terminal
6. Security – infrastructure
7. New runway reporting system
8. New security/safety building (aircraft navigation and tower services)
9. Upgrading of operating material

Master development plan 2007-2050

We have commenced the work of planning our strategy to meet the future development in the Northern Region. The strategy will form part of an overall master plan designed to ensure that Tromsø Airport will be a primus motor for the most optimistic scenarios in Northern Norway and the Barents Region.

The premises for the level of ambition we have adopted are laid down in the developments we see in the petroleum industry, research and education, the fishing industries and tourism. A broad group of professionals, participants from trade & industry and public bodies are participating in the process. The plan will be finalised by December 2006.
