Hiking in Arctic landscapes
A safe and healthy way to reach beauty spots around Tromsø i simply to walk.
Mount Fløya or the 1238 metres of Mount Tromsdalstind are leisurely climbs, and provide a Tromsø panorama of postcard dimensions. A more solitary experience can be enjoyed reaching for the peaks on the Island of Kvaløya, where the 1044 metres of Mount Blåmannen reward you with a sea view of the deepest and most endlessly blue.
The vast horizons of the Keel Range on the eastern border invite to well-planned weeklong treks. The toughest challenge, however, is conquering the highest mountain of the area, the 1833 metres of Mount Jiekkvarri in the Lyngen Alps.
