Tromsø Havn KF is the Port Authority in Tromsø and is a municipal enterprise. The Port Authority’s activities consist of port administration and regulation within the port district in accordance with the Norwegian Harbour Act.

In addition to providing basic infrastructure for passenger traffic and shipping in general, the port has an important role within the municipality of Tromsø to contribute to maritime development.

The activities of the port authorities also include functioning as the harbour district authority for the control and confirmation of plans for all activities in the harbour area (building of private quays, buildings, harbours for small boats, fish farms, fillings etc.). In addition, the port authorities must assist ships traffic in the port area and provide incoming ships with directions to a quay location.

The Port of Tromsø is self-financed.
