Prostneset is located in the city centre and is the area that welcomes travels to the city as it is the main area for ship and bus transportation in Tromsø. This is where Hurtigruten (the coastal express), catamarans and cruise ships arrives, and also where the bus terminal is located.

The Port of Tromsø together with other cooperating organisations is now working to improve this area by building a new modern terminal for passengers and goods. The project is named “The District terminal in Prostneset”. The ambition is to make Prostneset an attractive experience and meeting point in Tromsø and Northern Norway.

The new terminal has been designed by an architectural company called Space Group in cooperation with West 9 and Arup & Partners.
