Special sailing regulations:
When passing the Tromsø bridge, the following regulations must be followed:
- Vessels are not allowed to pass through the fairway if the displacement is more than 5000 tons.
- If north-sailing and south-sailing vessels meet in this area, the north-sailing boat will have priority. The boat that has the priority to pass first, must make four short siren signals to attract the attention of the other vessel.
- The fairway path has a height of 36.5 metres above the water-tap (high water), and width of about 60 meters.
When passing the Sandnessund bridge, the following regulations must be followed:
- The fairway is 120 metres, height is 41 metres above the high water.
- When passing the Sandnessund bridge, the meeting vessels should follow the rules described in the sea route rules § 41. Under no condition is allowed permitted for vessels to pass each other in the fairway. The fairway is marked with a green lantern on the eastern side and a red lantern on the western? side. There is a white lantern in the middle. All vessels must display permanent light above 180°.
There are no ice problems in Tromsø.
