From Tromsø you are not far from a multitude of scenic experiences in the surrounding area. The Lyngalpene range can be reached by car, and several companies offer overnight accommodation, boat trips and guided tours of the area. Climbers, telemark skiers and Randonée enthusiasts are drawn to the heath’s many opportunities for outdoor recreation.

Outside the city limits, Malangen Brygger and Målselv Fjellandsby are the two biggest destinations for organized activity. River fishing in the region is renowned, and the deep-sea fishing tourists are more than welcome at a number of sites around Tromsø, where you can hire a boat and spend the night in modern fisherman houses and fishing huts. A number of islands are within easy reach, and Senja – the main attraction – is not far off.
