The city’s new theatre venue was completed in 2005, and the regional Hålogaland Theatre has experienced something of a renaissance in its new home. Their recipe for success has been a stream of popular classics, modern dramas, familiar musicals and exciting shows for children.

Tromsø Kulturhus, Rådstua Teaterhus and other stage venues in town are often visited by free ensembles featuring theatre productions, dancing, musical projects or entertainment shows.

The city’s own theatre production is also prolific. Here you can find everything from comedy shows, chamber theatre with free theatre groups, to major productions that feature both professionals and amateurs. And most of these shows are of the highest standard.
